Trap shooting begins at 5 p.m. at the East Range Shooting Sports Facility's Red Top Range outside of Aurora. Shooting is every Tuesday through late fall. Open to all shooters. Range fees are $5 per round for members.

Thursday, September 4, 2014 to Saturday, September 27, 2014

Patterns and Images, an exhibit opening September 4, features the work of local artists Becca Arnold Sauer and Spencer Hahne. Sauer presents ceramics, while Hahne is showing paintings. Both local artists will be onsite during a reception Thursday, September 4, from 5:30-7 p.m.

The Duluth-Superior Harbormasters Barbershop Chorus present "Harmony in Virginia," an afternoon of barbershop singing, featuring Ripple Effect, Harbor Four, Pickup Four, and the Full Range Quartet. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Virginia Servicemen's Club.

Head up to Giants Ridge for a new event hosted by the resort and Cyclists of the Laurentian Divide. Race starts at 9:20 a.m. on a course 60-75 miles of road, gravel and ATV trails. Noon BBQ onsite. Evening event at Rudy's Bar in Aurora with awards and prizes.

The launch party will take place on October 6, 2014, at 7pm, at the B'nai Abraham Synagogue, in cooperation with the Virginia Area Historical Society. Refreshments will be served. Author Jeffrey Smith will read excerpts from the novel, sign copies and answer questions.
