Whiteface Reservoir TrailLocated approximately 12 miles east of Hoyt Lakes, Whiteface Reservoir is the perfect setting for hiking, swimming, fishing, picnicking and wildlife viewing. With 11 picnic sites, 2.5 miles of hiking trails, a sandy swimming beach and playground area, the reservoir is a place the whole family can enjoy. For wildlife enthusiasts there is an opportunity to view wildlife on the hiking trails and around the lake from the fishing pier. The large boat launch with dock as well as two accessible fishing piers makes for a great fishing location. Whiteface Reservoir water levels are controlled by Minnesota Power and fluctuate over the summer.Directions: From Hoyt lakes, travel on the Superior National Forest Scenic Byway to the intersection of the Byway and County Road 16. Take a right on County Road 16 and travel for about four miles to Forest Road 417. Take a left on Forest Road 417 and travel three miles to recreation area.
