ATV Trails on the Iron RangeALBORN-PENGILLY TRAILLocated approximately 43 miles west of the Iron Range OHV Recreation Area, this trail is 42 miles long and follows an abandoned railroad grade through beautiful scenery from Pengilly to Alborn. The trail is open for ATV use from April 1 to November 30th. It has been developed and maintained by a local ATV Club. Great scenery and wildlife sighting possibilities can be found on this trail. ALBORN-PENGILLY TRAIL MAPDirections: follow 169 southwest of Hibbing to Pengilly. Go 1/2 mile south on Highway 65, access to the trail is on the right. BIG ASPEN RECREATION AREAThe Big Aspen Recreation Area, located 11 miles north of Virginia and 16 miles from the Iron Range ATV/OHV Park, is managed by the U.S. Forest Service and offers over 20 miles of trails and great grouse hunting in the Superior National Forest (& through the Rice River Valley). BIG ASPEN TRAIL MAPSTONY SPUR II ATV TRAILThis trail, located approximately 38 miles northeast of the OHV Recreation Area, consists of 26 miles of ATV riding that is maintained by the US Forest Service in conjunction with Babbitt Area Development Association and goes through the Bear Island State Forest. The trail begins in Babbitt and runs eastward. This trail follows good terrain and is great for scenic riding. Wildlife viewing opportunities are available on this trail. Call ahead 218-827-3476 before riding. The trail is open for ATV use from April 1 to November 30. Directions: Follow 169 north of Virginia to Highway 21. Take Hwy 21 right exit and travel east approximately 19 miles. Take Highway 70 east two miles to Babbitt. Trail begins in the north east side of town on the corner of North Drive and Babbitt. It is the trail traveling to the east. STONY SPUR TRAIL MAPTHISTLEDEW TRAILThis trail consists of approximate 30 miles of trail riding located in the heart of the George Washington State Forest. Located about an hour and 15 minutes northwest from the Iron Range OHV Recreation Area, it makes for exciting additional ATV riding. ATV trails wind through scenic Norway and white pine, with birding and wildlife viewing opportunities. Directions: Take Highway 169 west of Hibbing to Nashwauk. Turn north (right) on Highway 65 and travel approximately 33 miles to State Highway 1. Take a left (west) on Highway 1. Trail is located one mile west on Highway 1. THISTLEDEW TRAIL MAPTOWER MULTI-USE TRAILThis short trail connects the city of Tower to the public beach and campground at McKinley Beach, on Lake Vermilion. TOWER MULTI-USE TRAIL MAP
