Wake up to the delicious taste of pastries at Sunrise Bakery in Hibbing including an Iron Range favorite ethnic treat potica (po teet sa). (20 minutes)

Drive by music legend Bob Dylan's childhood home, on the way to the historic school that Dylan, and basketball star Kevin McHale graduated from. Then, Arrive at the historic **Hibbing High School constructed more than 80 years ago. A grand staircase will lead you into the foyer, accented with hand-molded ceilings. The breath-taking auditorium was designed after the Capital Theatre in New York City. Cut-glass chandeliers of Belgium crystal light the 1800-velvet seat grand auditorium. (30 minutes) |

Travel on a fascinating journey through time at the birthplace of the bus industry in the United States. The story of the Greyhound Bus comes alive at *Greyhound Bus Museum in Hibbing through hundreds of artifacts and memorabilia. Historical buses displayed include a 1927 White, a 1936 Super Coach, a 1947 GMC Coach, 1948 Silverside, a 1956 Scenic cruiser and a 1982 MCI-9. (1 hour) |

View the biggest operating open pit iron ore mine in the world the *Hull Rust Mahoning Mine View in Hibbing expanding more than three miles long, two mile wide and 535 feet deep. This man-made "Grand Canyon" of the north is a National Historic Site. (30 minutes) |

Experience the heritage of Northeastern Minnesota at **Ironworld Museum in Chisholm. Tour permanent and traveling exhibits that explore the history, heritage and future of the region and its people. Theater, restaurant, trolley, Museum Store and galleries. Guided or self tours. (3 hours with lunch) |

View the world's third largest freestanding statue in the United States, the Iron Miner Statue. Standing 81 feet tall this bronze and steel statue pays tribute to all those who worked in the early ore mines. (10 minutes) |

Climb aboard oversized mining equipment used to mine the Mesabi Range's rich iron ore at the *Minnesota Museum of Mining in Chisholm. Imagine becoming the operator of one of the fastest steam shovels ever made, a rare 1910 Atlantic, tour replicas of an underground mine, mining town, or view a 127-ton WABCO Electrohaul truck, a 1930's dump truck or a 1907 steam locomotive. (1 hour) |

Recline comfortable while viewing the night sky inside the planetarium, or watch a stunning large format 70 mm movie on the 40-foot dome. Wherever you journey at the **Paulucci Space Theatre in Hibbing - deep into outer space or into the core of an erupting volcano - you will feel if you are actually right there. (1 hour) |

Day One:

Stand next to the World's Largest Hockey Stick in Eveleth measuring 107 feet and weighing over three tons. This Christian Brothers stick is complete with a giant rubber puck. (20 minutes) |

Experience the exciting world of hockey at the *United States Hockey Hall of Fame in Eveleth. Entertaining displays, Gallery of Hockey Art, the Olympic and the Theatre of Hockey Highlights showcase all levels of the sport. (1 hour) |

Enjoy a panoramic view of one of the area's deepest mine from a 20-story overlook at the *Mineview in the Sky in Virginia. The focus of this majestic view is an open pit, nearly three miles long, half mile wide and 450 feet deep. Towering 21-foot high is the 240-ton oversized mining truck, King of the Lode. (30 minutes) |

Explore the depths of Minnesota's first underground mine the **Soudan Underground Mine State Park as a caged elevator lowers you a half mile underground to the 27th level into the heart of the mine. A �; mile electric train ride brings you to the last and deepest area mined. Bring a sweater, as the year-round temperature is a constant 52 degrees. (1 � tour time, 35 minutes driving time from Virginia) |

Experience the spine-tingling sensation of howling wolves at the **International Wolf Center in Ely. Step into the shoes of researcher as you track wild wolves. Then, watch up close as wolves endure the great outdoors. (1-3 hours) |

Experience life of a miner as you take an exciting tour of a modern day **Active Mine at USS-Minntac in Mountain Iron.Slip into steel toe boots and put on a hard hat as a knowledge guide narrates your adventure. Watch 30-yard capacity shovels load overburden into 3-story 240-ton mining trucks, see 80 car trains pulled by three locomotives filled with taconite pellets cruise near 500-foot deep iron laden canyons, and discover 100-ton maintenance trucks, large drilling rigs and huge bulldozers. (1 hour) |

Go down in history at **Hill Annex Mine State Park. Interpreters with mining backgrounds lead the tour that includes a trolley bus ride of spectacular descent to the inner workings and buildings of the mine. They also feature a pontoon boat ride on the pit lake while you view 300-foot towering canyon walls from the water. (2 - 3 hours with pontoon ride, 1-1/2 hours without) |

Polkafest
Ironworld, ChisholmThis four-day event is non-stop polka excitement including the annual Welcoming Ceremony, continuous performances by the polka industry's top bands and Polka Mass.
This exciting festival features everything from the dynamic Slovenian twirl-and-glide to the energizing Polish hop. Thousands of polka enthusiasts gather for this event to embrace and celebrate the Mid-western tradition of polka music and dance. Over 5,000 people attend annually.

Land of the Loon Arts & Crafts Festival
VirginiaThis two-day festival kicks off the third full weekend in June and features a parade, street dance, and unique handcrafted items for sale in the beautiful Olcott Park. Crowds sample delicious ethnic foods, listen to music, enjoy ongoing costumed entertainment and browse among the over 200 arts and craft booths. More than 35,000 people attend this festival celebrating the culture and customs of the diverse people who settled in the area.

Mines & Pines Jubilee
HibbingThis nine-day long community celebration provides non-stop entertainment with an art festival street, dance, parade, mile race, flea market, and sidewalk days. Fireworks, beach parties and mini-plane aerial demonstrations also take place during this exciting event. The Mines and Pines Flea Market featuring handcrafted items, original art festival and ethnic foods as a main draw for this celebration. About 35,000 guests attend this annual event. This is no admission to this annual event.

Hoyt Lakes Water Carnival
Hoyt LakesA three-carnival featuring 5k road race, parade, pancake feed, outdoor dance, turtle races, open air dances, in-line skating race, water ski shows and fireworks. Tennis, volleyball, golf and softball tournaments are also a part of the event. The Hoyt Lakes Water Carnival is an ongoing event attracting approximately 7,500 people of all ages. Highlight of the event is the water-ski shows on Colby Lake.
